Join us at Standley Park on October 1st from 2-6p.m. for our Third Annual Oktoberfest Celebration.
All proceeds benefit the five public schools in University City: Curie, Doyle, Spreckels, Standley and UCHS. We give special VIP treatment to Dollar A Day donors at the $180 level or above.
This is a family friendly event with free and affordable games, contests, food, entertainment and, of course, a Beer Garden with wonderful craft beers fromSan Diego's top breweries. Our schools' principals attend and take part in a friendly competition.
Oktoberfest will be hosting the 2nd Anniversary of the University City Homebrew Contest. This year's category is Indian Pale Ale and 2011 BJCP Style Guidelines will be used. Look at our website for details to participate, www.uc-educate.org. |

Mrs. Daglio and Ms. Kjarsgaard are starting their 3-day walk this Friday. Here's a note from Ms. Kjarsgaard: I have reached my minimum, and have finished training! I'm ready to walk for the third time! I'm very excited and hope some of you will be able to come and cheer us on. It's a wonderful and moving sight-------- 5,000 women in pink all walking for the same cause. There's even some men!
Again thank you for your donations and your support. Together we will find a cure!!!!!!! |

Dear Curie Parents, If you haven't heard yet, EdUCate! is sponsoring their First Annual Oktoberfest on October 3, 2009 at Standley Park and Rec Center from 2pm-6pm. We are so excited about this event and are hoping you will join us. Oktoberfest is co-sponsored by the Standley Rec Council and will be a community-wide event.
German music from "The El Cajon German Band" and Standley Marching Band, and the Accordion Lovers Society International! There will be games, many types of beverages, and brats and hot dogs brought to you by Saag Meats and Newport Meats, and even Root Beer Kegs!! The games will be for everyone, including a stein holding contest, sack race, keg rolling contest, sauerkraut eating contest, a rock climbing wall, giant Jenga and more!! Games are being brought to you by Nancy Beck, Realtor of Century 21 Award, Ryan Brothers Coffee, Kim Caniglia, Realtor of Billionaires Row La Jolla, and many more sponsors are joining us every day!
What event in UC would be complete without the Old Town Trolley? The trolley will be running up and down Governor Dr. just like at the July Fourth celebration and is sponsored by Coldwell Banker Associates.
This event is open to the public and we want to get as many people out there as possible to join in the fun and learn more about EdUCate! If you have not yet made your contribution to Dollar a Day, we will be taking donations at the event. Everyone turning in their Dollar a Day envelope with a $180 donation at Oktoberfest will receive two Commemorative Glasses (either Root Beer Steins or Beer Glasses) with 5 pours each of root beer or beer, and a scarf with German Braids or a Tyrolian Hat! Don't miss out on the fun! We hope you can join us, and we ask that you pass this on to as many people as you can! We want everyone to come and enjoy this fun family event!!
