Site Council / Governance Team

To satisfy a combination of state and district requirements, we have a combined School Site Council and School Governance Team (SSC/SGT). This committee is made up of parents and staff elected to the committee. These include five staff members (one administrator, one classified employee, one teacher's association representative and two certificated staff members) and five parents (a PTA board representative and four representatives at large). 

The committee is composed of the following members:

 The purpose of the committee is to monitor school programs, selected budgets and act in an advisory capacity to the principal.  The governance team's Scope of Authority are in the following three areas:
  • Scheduling/ Assignments
  • Staffing
  • Budget (except where SSC controls)
In collaboration with the Principal, the team develops direction, parameters and policies for all three areas that focus on student achievement, ensures equity and uses an outlined decision making process. The team provides input and direction as well as creates a plan to improve the achievement of all students through quality teaching and learning experiences and by maintaining a safe campus.

The Site Governance Team consists of 50% SDEA (Union) Members, 35% Parents and community and 15% Others (such as support staff) AND the Principal. Members are elected for a two-year term democratically by their constituency at the beginning of each school year. The team meets 6 - 8 times a school year. These meetings are public and anyone may come and offer discussion or just to observe, but only members and rep. alternates (in the absence of a rep. member) may vote.
