Why Join?When many people think of Curie PTA they may picture fun assemblies, PE and Music consultants, fundraisers, monthly meetings, and volunteer opportunities. And they're right, of course! But the true backbone of any PTA is membership. The simple act of joining is what starts the ball rolling toward the fun and enriching activities that our PTA is known for.Did you know that by joining Curie PTA you are helping to affect the lives of kids all over California and the United States? Part of your membership dues is sent to our district PTA office, to the State PTA office and to National PTA. These dues are used to lobby each level of government for policies advantageous to all children on issues related to education, social and emotional well-being, and more. This is no small effort you are a part of. In fact, the National PTA represents the largest volunteer organization in the US … with over 6 million members! How do I join?Joining Curie PTA is a snap. You can join at the start of the school year during the Membership Campaign. An invitation to join will come home in your child's backpack; fill it out and return it with your dues … it's that simple! If you missed the campaign or would like to join now, simply print out the Membership Form , fill it out, and drop it at the school office. A great thing about PTA membership is there's no deadline. You can join anytime, right up until the last day of school. And whenever you join, you will be doing something that benefits all of our children.How much are membership dues?Curie PTA has four membership levels:
You should know that $4.50 of your membership goes to district, state and national dues. The higher membership levels allow Curie to keep a greater percentage of the dues paid. Can I join on behalf of my business?While there is no separate "business membership," we welcome community members and Curie parents to join as individuals on behalf of their business, whether or not they have students at Curie. As an incentive to join, each member has his or her business listed on the back cover of the Curie Directory, an indispensable phone book for Curie parents. The PTA welcomes donations and is aware that some employers do matching grants.
