Student Council Coin Drive: Last Week to Contribute

Student Council is running a coin drive at Curie during the month of April. All funds raised through the coin drive will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Prizes will be awarded to the lower (TK through 2nd grade) & upper (grades 3 through 5) classes that collect the most money. Each teacher has a jar in his or her classroom to collect coins. Start looking for loose change at home to send in!

Art & Music Showcase: Volunteers Needed for Day-Of Set-Up

The Art & Music Showcase is coming up on Wednesday, May 10 & we need volunteers to help with set-up on the day of the event! The most help is needed directly after school that day (12:30 PM to 2:30 PM) to set up the art tunnel. We are looking for 20 volunteers so if you are interested in helping out for this fun event, click the link below to sign up! Not available to volunteer during the day? Sign up to lend us your outdoor games! Some ideas for games to bring are: corn hole, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, or any other backyard games that would be fun for students to enjoy during the event. Thank you, Curie volunteers; we couldn't do this without you!

  • To celebrate Earth Week this year, the PTA invited Ms. Smarty Plants to Curie to host a fact-filled assembly where students engaged in conversation about water conservation, critical thinking, & ways to care for the planet & one another!

  • Thank you to families who participated in our annual Earth Day Produce & Book Swap on Friday! Check out the pictures below to see what everyone brought to share.

  • As always, past newsletters can be found on our website!

  • THANK YOU to Asoka Banno for another successful Spring Book Fair! Asoka pulled off 3 Scholastic Book Fairs this year, each of which earns rewards for Curie.

A message from Asoka:

"Dear Curie Families,

Our Spring Book Fair was another big success! Thank you all for your support; I hope everyone enjoyed the experience. I would also like to express my gratitude to the following volunteers who provided assistance for the fair: Marie K., Alicia E., Danielle T., Julie D., Kerri B., Cindy S., Candi R., Ashley C., Sara W., Mia S., Yoshie Y., Amanda T., Rose W., Nicole O. The fair could not have happened without them.

Funds raised ($4,000 in 'Scholastic dollars') will allow us to buy books for classrooms as well as Scholastic News, My Big World, & Let's Find Out magazines for every student.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be back the second week of the 2023-2024 school year! If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to me at bookfair@curiepta.org."

Current Opportunities:

  • Our librarian, Stephanie Perea is looking for 3-4 volunteers to help her organize the library. She is specifically looking for damaged books & to make sure all books are checked back in. This may take 1-2 days, depending on volunteer interest & commitment. Ms. Perea is on campus every Wednesday until 4 PM. If you are interested, she can review tasks with you on a Wednesday & then you are free to come back & organize another day according to your schedule. Please contact Ms. Perea with questions & interest at sperea@sandi.net.

  • Curie Crew is recruiting volunteers to help refurbish the wall ball courts on campus. The target date for installation is currently the afternoon of April 28 & we are hoping to recruit enough volunteers to complete the job in approx. 2 hours. Please send an email to curiecrew@curiepta.org if you'd like to help out.

  • Curie is looking for volunteers for lunch duty; email Penny in the front office at pcavanagh@sandi.net.
