Standley PTSA helps parents, students, school staff, and the community work together to share ideas about programs and activities that benefit children. Our PTSA provides information and resources that strengthen the connections between students, parents, schools, and the community.

In order to achieve our goals, we have divided our volunteer needs into many bite-sized pieces. This allows our volunteers to commit time to as little or as many pieces as they are able.

Many of our PTSA executive board and committee members are 8th grade parents that will be leaving Standley at the end of the school year. If you've ever considered getting more involved, now is a great time to step in and be part of all the amazing efforts our PTSA offers the Standley community. We would be excited to have you join us!

PTSA Board of Directors

These important officers oversee the main duties of the Standley PTSA. They are supported by many committee chairs and volunteers that work together as a team to achieve our goals.

Executive Board positions require a monthly time commitment and should be able to attend a monthly executive board meeting, held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month during the school year.

Each of the executive board Vice Presidents will oversee committee chairs for their department. They will delegate responsibilities and can also chair or co-chair committees themselves.

BOD Interest

PRESIDENT - Coordinate the work of officers and committees of the association. Preside at all meetings of the association and executive board. (4 association/9 executive board) Work with Standley Administration/Staff as needed to coordinate meeting dates.

VP MEMBERSHIP - Coordinates membership campaigns, creates and maintains membership list and supports the executive board to run the PTSA. The First VP takes over duties of the President in his/her absence.

VP PROGRAMS - Coordinates with the committee chairs on the PTSA sponsored programs, dates and schedules, as needed, and supports the executive board to run the PTSA.

VP WAYS & MEANS - Coordinates fundraising efforts and direct donations; also supports the executive board to run the PTSA.

VP COMMUNICATIONS - Coordinates with committee chairs on information to connect families and schools through publications and social media; also supports the executive board to run the PTSA.

SECRETARY - Keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and executive board and support the executive board to run the PTSA.

TREASURER - Keeps the financial books of the association. Chair the budget committee and prepare the budget for the upcoming year. Receive monies, make deposits, write checks on behalf of the association. Maintain accurate records of the association's funds and support the executive board to run the PTSA.

AUDITOR - Examines the Treasurer’s books twice a year and signs a statement that the accounting is accurate before the bi-annual deadlines.

HISTORIAN - Assemble and preserve a record of the activities, achievements, and volunteer hours of the association. Act as custodian of the records of the association and supports the executive board to run the PTSA.

Committee Chairs

Chairing a special committee is a perfect way to volunteer for a shorter commitment of time and usually requires only a few hours surrounding a specific event or program. Chairs for larger events and programs are encouraged to recruit other volunteers to delegate responsibilities to. Read on to find out more about our committee chair openings.

Committee Interest

Hospitality Chair - Works with the PTA president and teachers to coordinate Teacher Appreciation events.

Book Fair Co-Chair - Teams up with another parent to organize and run the book fair in the fall and spring for students, staff, and parents. Coordinates marketing and advertising, sale set-up, volunteer staffing and sales, inventory control, and tear-down.

Honorary Service Awards Chair - Identifies volunteers to be honored for going above and beyond in their service to our students and community.

Reflections Chair - Coordinates promotions for the Reflections program and collects student submissions for the annual contest.

Website Chair - Updates the Standley PTSA website with news and updates

EdUCate! Liaison - Familiarizes themselves with Educate staff, events, and processes in order to better promote at Standley. Communicates to the Standley PTSA, keeping an updated list of POCs and actively participates in the EdUCate events.
