2nd – 5th Grades
Just a few reminders about Halloween at Curie Elementary:
Costumes are allowed, but it IS first and foremost a school day. If you decide to send your child in a costume, it should be a costume that can be kept on ALL day and will NOT interfere with your child’s learning. Please consider the following:
- Costumes should be comfortable, not something that will need to be removed so that school work can be done.
- No props such as guns, knives, swords, brooms, etc. These are inappropriate for school and/or
- No masks. Faces could be minimally painted, if necessary, for the effect sought, but such paint or makeup must not be irritating or disruptive for the student.
- No extremely messy makeup should be used. Nothing that could come off on hands, desks, papers,
Thank you for your help in making this a fun and safe day for our students.
We have asked you to pick a morning that would usually work best for you. If we get enough sign-ups we will split them up further by month, i.e. you may do every Monday in September and October, then someone else will do every Monday in November and December.
Help the students get safely out of their cars in the morning and guide them to follow the footprints in to the school. Please plan to be ready to help no later than 7:30 a.m. and expect to stay until 8:00 a.m. This is always our most difficult volunteer spot to fill but is a very simple and rewarding job, with very little time required.

WE ARE GOING GREEN!
San Diego Unified School District has adopted Peachjar to manage and distribute e-flyers to parents. To ensure this school-to-home communication is highly effective, the district office has provided Peachjar with a complete list of email addresses for parents at Curie Elementary School and thus, Peachjar will begin delivering e-flyers to your school community in the next few days.
Each year, our school will save approximately 2-3 tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, paperless delivery of school flyers removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers. Peachjar manages this innovative service at no cost to parents, parent groups, schools, teachers, and staff. Plus, Peachjar gives schools part of the proceeds it collects from enrichment providers that post flyers.School-approved e-flyers will keep you informed about upcoming school activities, programs, and events. And our children’s backpacks will be a little bit lighter!
You can find the new PEACHJAR logo on the front page of our website www.curiepta.org. If you have not already registered with Peachjar, you will receive a welcome email from them that includes a username and password. To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, please add email@example.com to your email contacts. Thank you for helping us save time, money, and lots of trees!
To make it easier for you, we’re in the process of consolidating all of the school email accounts. Using one sign-up page, you’ll be able to select any UC school(s) from which you’d like to receive email… and change them when your student graduates or moves to another school.
