Vote for Mary Ricci – Volunteer of the Year!

Ms. Mary Ricci has been nominated for the DonorNation School Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of her valuable service to our school. Should she win this Award our school will win $5000.

To help ensure that Ms. Mary Ricci, and our school, win this important Award, we need your help. Please go to http://www.SchoolVolunteerAward.org and cast your vote for Mary Ricci.

It should only take you a couple of minutes to vote, but it would mean a lot to her, and of course our school could use the $5000 too.

So please go to http://www.SchoolVolunteerAward.org and cast your ballot for Mary Ricci and also urge your friends to vote too.

Thank you for your help and support.

Curie Kids Rock ‘n’ Roll Run, June 1

LAST CALL TO JOIN THE CURIE KIDS TEAM TO RUN, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL ON SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2013

Our Curie Kids can be part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & Half Marathon race weekend excitement on Saturday, June 1, 2013, by participating in the 3rd annual ING KiDS ROCK San Diego — a 1-mile (1/2 mile for Kindergarteners), non-timed, non-competitive event for children in grades K – 7.

Online registration is now available until May 26 (or sell out) at https://www.raceit.com/register/?event=15427. When you register online, BE SURE to choose “Curie Elementary ROCKS” from the drop down menu where you indicate what school your child attends. Note that parents and/or chaperones may choose to run with their kids, but do NOT need to register. This is not a school-sponsored event, but it IS something we encourage families to get together and participate in! The $25 entry fee per child includes a T-Shirt, Finisher’s Medal, and other goodies. Find detailed info at http://ingkidsrock.competitor.com/event-info/san-diego/. Susie Giesting is the parent captain for the Curie Elementary ROCKS team (thank you, Susie!), and can be reached at susangiesting@gmail.com or 858-254-5928.

Special Note: Principal Juarez will be leading the registered Curie runners in a weekly training session (during school) during the weeks leading up to the event.

Parent Note: Curie Parents can run, rock ‘n’ roll too! If you ever thought you’d like to run (or walk) a half or full marathon, now might be the time to get motivated with several other Curie parents who will be completing the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon or Half Marathon on Sunday, June 2. Contact Susie Giesting for information regarding the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, at susangiesting@gmail.com or 858-254-5928.

Please Support our Laps for Learning Sponsors

The Curie Elementary PTA
Rock & Roll Laps for Learning!
took place on March 13, 2013.

Every year, our entire student body comes out to walk, jog or run to support the many programs that our PTA provides. The students collect pledges for running and donate the funds to the Curie PTA. The Curie PTA uses the funds to provide additional Art, Science, PE, Music, a Multi-Cultural Fair, School Performance, Junior Olympics and many other enhancement programs. The event has become our biggest fundraiser of the year!

Not only do our students help support these wonderful programs, many of our business community members have generously donated to Laps for Learning. We would like to thank the following business sponsors:
